OUR PROJECTS
Composting
Is a sustainable living practice. Reduces carbon footprint. Improves the quality of soil helping hold air, nutrients, and moisture. Composting prevents erosion and loosens hard soil, allowing plants to grow and spread their roots. Moreover, compost is an organic fertilizer, allowing the growth of good bacteria that break down organic matter. Composting reduces waste and methane emissions gasses from landfills.
Are spaces for individuals to connect with nature, engage with their family members, and their community. Gardening is a wholeness activity. Exercising improves cognitive functioning in the brain; however gardening activities may spur growth in your brain's memory-related nerves.
Researchers demonstrated that 20 minutes a day of gardening activities in patients treated for dementia, increased amounts of brain nerve growth factors associated with memory in both males and females. (Healthline.com by Joy Stanborough, MFA)

Environmental Stewardship
The simple fact of connecting with nature and others reduces the cortisol levels (the stress hormone) allowing the rise of dopamine and serotonin levels, associated with happiness, focus, and calmness.

COMPOSTING
A SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE
Optimized nitrogen management can address both of these challenges. For example, practices that balance fertilizer use with crop needs and recycle nitrogen from manure and organic waste can minimize losses across the nitrogen cycle. This can reduce nitrous oxide emissions, while also enhancing air and water quality and meeting food production needs.
